U-Pick Cherries at Milburn Orchards
Most of the time, getting to know an area authentically is best done through its food. Tasting the flavors and observing the styles of a region or local area will always tell you a lot about its culture, heritage, or trend-setting culinary strategies. Besides our famous crab, though, you can get to know Maryland a little better by experiencing some of our good ol’ fashioned, home-grown, all-natural, family-farmed fruit, straight out of the soil. At Milburn Orchards in Elkton, you can even pick it yourself!
Milburn Orchards has its grand re-opening for the season on June 7th and you won’t have to wait much longer for the first summer harvest party. On June 22nd and 23rd, visit Milburn Orchards for the Cherry Harvest Party. U-pick also starts mid-June for cherries and you’ll find the elusive peaches (no U-pick available for peaches) for sale at the farm market. The farm market is known for its locally grown vegetables and quality fruits. The signature product is Milburn’s fresh apple cider made from 3-4 varieties of tart and sweet, hand-picked apples that are blended and squeezed for that famous flavor. Fresh baked goods can also be found at the Country Bake Shoppe. Try the apple cider donuts or the giant Royal Gala caramel apples and then shop products like apple butter, jams and jellies, local cheeses, honey, syrups, and many more unique, locally-sourced, gourmet items.
Stop by for a quick bite along your travels, satisfy your sweet tooth craving, or stock the kitchen pantry back home. Whatever your reason, visiting Milburn Orchards is a home-grown experience that will only bring you closer to truly getting to know the area during your visit.
